"I have a 1995 Mariner Outboar

"I have a 1995 Mariner Outboard motor and am having trouble with the tilt and trim. Sometimes it locks up going up and also going down. When it sticks, I release the screw on right side of tilt trim motor and it helps for a little while. I try to make sure there is enough tilt and trim oil in it. Tell me the correct way to put oil in the unit and what my problem might be."

"If I remember correctly the fill for the trim is on the stbd. side of transom bracket. If this is the case, you fill to bottom of threads with engine in full down position. Use dexron III. If its one of the ones that has the screw on the res. you fill in full up position. Remember to use trailering lever for safety."

"Dan, You may need to bleed the system. To do that, fill the resvoir, install the cap and run the motor up and down a bit, and let it sit for 10 min in the up position. Now open the cap and you should hear some air escape. Now refil and repeat a few times."
