I have a 96 Johnson 112 HP SPL

I have a 96 Johnson 112 HP SPL. After taking the boat out this weekend I cleaned the boat up to include flushing the motor. I tilted the motor up and about a half hour later I noticed what looked like black oil comming from where the lower unit bolts up to the rest of the outboard. It was driping out of the front side where the two flanges meet. Is this just exhaust slobber from running at an idle? Just to clarify it is comming from the top of the lower unit flange. It was maybe 7 or 8 drops and stopped.

"randy, Smell the oil. If it stinks, it is gear oil, and you need to do the pressure test. If it smells like oil and gas, it is just some oil residue from the exhaust, and not a problem."
