What does gear case fit

"I have a gear case part #1600

"I have a gear case part #1600-880686T14 GC 16 XL with maybe and hour or two on it.
What models, horse power and years does it fit?
Also I am use too small and older model Mercs, on this gears case the back lash feels like at least a .250, what should it be?
