Is it possible to change a 198

Is it possible to change a 1989 25hp outboard from a long shaft to a short shaft?

"Jared, yes, but quite cost prohibitive. You would need a new drive shaft, shift shaft, exhaust housing (leg) and water tube.

If you could find a short shaft motor with a blown powerhead (cheap), it may be worth it to do a simple swap of the lower end/exhaust housing - otherwise it could well add up to the cost of a good used short shaft motor...."
