"i have a 7.5 mercury outboard

"i have a 7.5 mercury outboard that i haven't used in a while say 8 years its a 1975 model..i disassebled the bottom part of the motor to put in a new impeller and other parts for spring fishing and noticed that the for rods for shifting and stuff are frozen , is there any solution i could stick this whole assemly part in and free this part of the motor up? thank you"

"Johnny, Does it have gear lube in the gearcase? If not put some in. maybe it will free up.

If not, fill the gearcase with gas-oil fuel mix, heavy on the oil and let it sit a few days. if that doesn't work, can you put it into a 5 gal bucket with heavy oil mix of gas-oil
