"Hello everybody,

I am new on this board, and I might contribute with questions rather then answers... Ya, I'm preaty much a newbie with regards to outboards.
I would like to ask for advice on the right carburator float level for a Mercury 4 model S/N 7146785, 4 HP, 2 cylinders (1981 made in Canada). My Seloc manual got lost, and I remember the info on this particular adjustment was not very precise anyway. I have tryied the general rule i.e horizontal float level with the carb up side-down, but it appears that it is not the best bet.

Thanks in advance for your time!"

"George, if you are simply looking for the float adjustment, with it upside down you should be measuring.

From the base of the bowl (or rim if you like) to the bottom of the float (as it hangs/drops down) you should have a measurement between 5/64" and 7/64" measured on the side opposite the hinge...."
