"I"m tring to replace the

"I"m tring to replace the steering control arm assembly all powerhead bolts except for one on the port and starboard sides that twisted off,and head will still not come free.We have snubbed lower unit to trailer and pulled on head with small winch.Can those two twisted off bolts be causing the hang up? All advice welcomed !

The long bolts on these engines can get really frozen in the spacer and exhaust housing. Usually when this happens, no amount of heat will loosen them up. There are two ways to go. Sometimes you can cut the gasket away so that you can squeeze a hacksaw blade in there and carefully cut through the bolts without damaging anything else. The other approach is to either cut through the spacer between the powerhead and the mid-section thereby allowing you to remove the block, or drill a hole through the side of the spacer, just below the bottom of the block and through the bolt shaft. If you do this carefully you can usually simply plug the hole(s) with an epoxy putty and use the spacer again.
