"My 98 150 Evinrude (carburated) is running rough after I run it at 3000 RPM's for about a 1/2 hour and bring it down to 1800 - 2000. When running at 3000 it still runs smooth. Any ideas?
I am not sure how to check the choke. I have de- carbed, replaced the plugs and fuel filter. I realize there will be multiple possibilities but will welcome all.

"Ken, That motor does not have a conventional choke. It has a solenoid which dumps fuel into the airbox, when you push in on the ignition key. It is probably not your problem.

Does the motor run better at 1800-2000 when you first leave the dock? if so, you may be having some heat-related vaporlock or too rich of a idle mixture. See if the block gets too hot to touch, after a long run. If so, replace the thermostats. If not, your carbs simply may be out of adjustment. If it doesn't stall, you might just live with it."
