"I have a 1992 Johnson 15hp. The plugs seem allways wet and it blows alot of black oil out the exhaust. Commpression is 90psi cold and 110psi warm. This sounds like rings?. Runs very good, just seems to blow alot of oil. I just bought it so I dont know much history. Any thing I should look for or do this winter? Thank you"

Compression seems fine. I would check spark as it sounds like an incomplete combustion problem.
I'm assuming your mixing 50:1 fuel as well.

"Mixture is 50:1 carefully mixed, but I am using what ever oil is avaiable at walmart. Maybe try Johmson evinrude oil? Check spark?"
 
Your spark should be able to j

Your spark should be able to jump 7/16 in. with a real good blue snap at cranking speed. Don't just hold your plug to the block when testing. Joe Reeves describes how to make a spark plug tester if you don't have one. Just use the search feature on top of page and you can find it.

Could this engine be running too cold? Would this problem occur if the head was not heating to the right temp?
