Joe...I'm working on a 19

Joe...I'm working on a 1978 85 hp E/R. A local mechanic told me that by using a UL77V plug in this motor could burn the motor up because of lack of heat range...Is this true ????

I am not joe or will I ever h

I am not joe or will I ever have the experience he has but your motor calls for L77JC4 or QL77JC4
I would say there is a heat range difference.
I have an 85 h/p rude and I gap mine at 40 and I do believe joe would agree with me.

"Yep Willard, I agree with you

"Yep Willard, I agree with you. Either plug will work.... the "Q" indicates a suppressor plug to help eliminate noise/interference from affecting the electronic equipment. The plug gap is .040 .

The UL77V won't burn up the engine but regardless of the 77 heat rating, it actually is a cold running plug which will foul easily, resulting in a rough idle. The plus side is that they practically last forever.
