Purchased a new omc trim send

Purchased a new omc trim sender. It appears that I have to remove the outdrive to feed the wire through the upper portion of the outdrive into the engine compartment. There is a grommet were the wire goes into the engine compartment through the outdrive. Does any one have a suggestion as to how to feed the wire through without taking the outdrive off. Unfortunatly with the sender there is no installation instuctions. As well the chilton book dosent go into how to change this. Looking for any suggestions.

"I JUST PUT ONE ON MY BOAT! YOU CAN DO IT WITHOUT TAKING THE OUTDRIVE OFF. THERE IS A CLIP ON THE INSIDE HOLDING THE WIRE BOOT IN. IT IS PROBABLY GLUED AS WELL. NOT AN EASY JOB. YOU CAN HARDLY SEE IT. IF I HAD MY TIME BACK, I WOULD JUST CUT THE WIRES AT THE OLD SENDING UNIT, AND SOLDER THE NEW ONE. I SPENT ABOUT 2 HRS ON MINE."
