" 1965 johnson 9.5 , exhaust getting up to power head wont run with motor hood on . anyone know how to vent exhaust out . don't want to replace seal ,don't know if I can evan find the seal anywhere.

"Dale... You haven't said whether the engine is being run on a boat and the problem happens while under way, or if the engine is simply being run in a barrel of some sort.

If in a barrel, the chances are great that the exhaust fumes will be drawn into the carburetor area even with a new engine..... but this would not exist while being underway.

If the exhaust is actually leaking from somewhere, with the hood off, you should be able to see where it's coming from. Give us an update.

The engine does

The engine does this in a barrel or on the boat under way. I have looked and used soap I cant see where it is coming from.
