Auto regs will not work on the 470 as the style of alternator is complety different. The 470 reg.is a voltage retifier/regulator. More like one would find in a outboard or bike.
Best way around your problem is to go to a belt driven marine delco alternator.Kits are avaiable or if your handy & have lots of time its a matter of fabrcating brackets to mount alternator and a bit of wiring.
