" My father has a 1977 Mercury 850 that wont accelerate off idle. Carbs are clean, timing ok, fuel good, compression good, etc. Engine seems to idle fine but as you accelerate it just bogs down the more throttle you give it the more it falls off. Did not try but will probably die if you gave it wide open throttle. Any ideas would be appreciated. "
