What is the right way to plac

What is the right way to place the reverse locking cam on a 75 hp mariner 1982 year.

As per Mercury:

As per Mercury:

1) Shift lower unit into neutral.
2) place grooved side of plastic spacer
toward gear housing. Locate tabs on
spacer in recess of gear housing.
3) Locate high part of cam (at upper end
of ramp)to face forward. Slide cam
onto shift shaft.

I'd make sure that the ramp isn't worn
down because that would affect the
reverse lock operation.
