Engine runs fine at 10mph

when i try to speed up past 10

when i try to speed up past 10 mph the engine dies
it starts right back up and runs fine at low speed. I have replaced the gas and the plugs alos has new filter. I am new to these out boards so any help is appreciated. this is a 1975 evinrude

"Sounds like you might have a fuel problem. First check compression, next check the spark, if good, start looking at your fuel system. Start at the tank, is the tank clean inside? If so, then move on to the hose system, does it leak? If not, then see that the bulb pumps fuel. If it does, move on to the fuel pump, is the filter screen clean? If it is, go to the carb, does fuel come out of the float bowl when plug is removed? If it does, when was the last time the carb when cleaned? Has the carb been rebuilt lately? Could be all/or any one of these things. Post your results."
