"I'm about to install my V

"I'm about to install my VP DP-A outdrive and I wanted to get my trim cylinders out a bit to attach to the drive. I had, at one point, all the trim equipment out of the boat and reinstalled. When I tried to move my trim cylinders (TC), only one cylinder would move. i looked at the trim oil level at the pumpa nd refilled to the required level. Now the stbd cylinder moves slightly and the port moves ok, however, in order to move the cylinders in the "bow up" direction, I must use the bypass switch. "Bow down" seems ok. First, does this mean that my 'bow up" relay is bad since I must use the relay bypass? Second, shouldn't I be able to take the trim sender and put it, manually, at -4 and be able to get a trim angle indication on my trim indicator? The indicator always show a red light "beached" indication? Is this correct? Please advise. I have the "early" model trim pump. Thanks.
