" I have just repalced my waer pump in my 1994 60 hp evinrude. I am trying to reconnect the shift shaft. I cannot get it to connect to the lever. Is there a trick? To remove it, i pulled the pin on the lever. i know it must be something very simple!! "

How do I reconnect the shift shaft to the shift lever on my 1994 60 hp evinrude. i replaced the water pump. and now need to put it back together.
