" I purchased a water pressure

" I purchased a water pressure gauge from the local boat dealer, and spoke with a mechanic about installation on 1978 merc 150 h.p. He told me to cut the hose going to my tell tale about 1/3 way down and install tee. I would think it would be better to connect it a fitting from the top of the engine to mesure the pressure. Plan on doing it tommorrow so if anyone has any opinions please help me out. Also looks as if there is a bolt in the top port side of the engine block. "

The gauge should be

The gauge should be tapped into the exhaust cover.
There may be a hole already with a plug in it for this purpose. If so, you are lucky, if not you will have to drill and tap. "
