    Ok guess what? I cut open my Big Red Plug and found a solid purple wire(picture #1) and in picture #2 it shows only 7 wires leaving the Big Red Plug.

    I misunderstood what a tiller was as well as a remote. I was thinking it was a trolling motor and one of those little remotes for it. Again I am sorry for the confusion. It is a 1986 40 hp Engine #E 40ELCDE motor.
