    '78 Mercury 7.5 carb leaking

    I just replaced the gaskets and diaphragms in the carb and now the fuel pump inlet cover is leaking at the gasket when I prime the fuel bulb. I am afraid to tighten the inlet cover bolt too much because the inlet cover is plastic. Need some help here.

    I bought a '78 model Mercury 7.5 hp outboard about a year ago. I have gone through several pull ropes and I am at a loss as to why it keeps fraying and breaking.
