    1980s Mercury 6 Horse won't stay in forward

    Hey yall I have a 1980s 6 horse Mercury Outboard and when I shift into forward it goes perfectly but after a minute or 2 the motor starts jumping and I was looking at it, I put it into forward but it's like it won't stay in gear all the way. Any clue how to fix it? Thanks guys
