    what year? no id number

    I have a 70 hp Johnson, which has a damaged ID tag. The numbers are not readable due to cable scuffing. Is there another location that the numbers may be obtained? I know how to decode the numbers, but simply don't have the numbers. It has a VRO pump, so it must be at least a mid 1980's ...
