    Tach not working.

    Did you get a replacement rectifier from Mercury or CDI? I purchased one from Amazon and it would charge, but no tach. I returned it.

    Mercury 40hp Boggs

    Manual says 1.25 turns out to start, open them more if bogging. Have you checked the compression? Will the spark jump a 7/16 gap on all cylinders? 5000-5500rpm max. Sounds like its running on 3 cylinders

    What's this extra coil part do?

    Bought this "Sierra coil 18-5186" and in the bag was a approx. 1/2" dia x 3/4" long w/ 3/16" hole thru center ceramic tube. Dark gray in color. What's it do and where does it go? Hate to put it back together and leave something out. Thanks. MJ
