    Swapping out tilt and trim 85hp

    Ok,my old 1975 85hp merc died. I'm looking to take the tilt and trim cylinders ( 4 hose type ) off and put them on a 1974 85hp merc. I heard I can leave the mount on the boat with the hydraulic cylinders, and swap it out that way. Is this correct?

    kill switch problem 1976 85hp merc

    The kill switch is not shutting engine off. The switch itself, does make and break contact. I have the "commander" control with tilt /trim and rear cable for tach/panel connection. Tach also stopped working. Any suggestions? Thanks

    compression question

    I have a 1977 85HP merc with 75PSI on all 4 cylinders. Is that too low or doesn't it matter so much as long as they are close to each other? Thanks

    low compression

    85hp merc sat for 3 years. Compression was good when stored(125) Now at 50psi. Is there anything that can be done without having to tear apart? Thanks Bill

    Bogging down at wide open throttle

    I'm looking at purchasing I'm looking at purchasing an 85hp merc that runs fine except has started to bog down at wide open throttle. What might be some of the causes of this that I should look for. Before buying I plan to do a compression test. Thanks for any suggestions.

    Lower unit match up

    Would the lower units of a 197 Would the lower units of a 1971 50hp serial #3012248 and a 1977 50hp serial #4578463 be interchangable? Thanks for any info. You all have been a great help in reviving my old merc.
