    Over voltage from regulator

    I have a 2001 yamaha f30 with I have a 2001 yamaha f30 with what appears to be a stanley DE4202 regulator. My problem is my Lowrance sounder displays at revs a system voltage of 16.9 volts. Can this damage anything? How do I diagnose the faulty component if this is the case?
