    How to shut off 1990 30hp Evinrude without the lanyard kill switch

    I have a 1990 evinrude model e I have a 1990 evinrude model e30teess 30hp and when i'm on the water the only way i can shut down the motor is with lanyard killswitch that is by the throttle. i pull the choke out and it stays running. is this the only way to shut off the motor? please help.
