    Dangers of putting to large of an engine hp on a pontoon boat

    I have a 20' pontoon boat. I have a 20' pontoon boat. the engine recently went out so I bought what was supposed to be a 115hp in line 6. I later found out it is a 150hp in line 6. The old engine was a 100hp in line 4. I have no hp rating plate on my boat. What are the dangers if it is to much hp?
