"96 J25TELEDA CANT GET LOWER UNIT OFF

The most separation between the lower housing was using a 7/16 12 point socket on a 12" wobble extension placed on the 1/2" nut on the stud and smacking it with a 3 lb. hammer while using various wedges. Thanks

"96 J25TELEDA CANT GET LOWER UNIT OFF

I did start with a old weak piece of wood and it was just breaking up. I then used a hammer with a hardwood handle and inverted it so the handle was placed on the lower unit and whacked the head of it. After that I just hit it with the rubber mallet. All to no avail. The most movement was from...

I was thinking about blocking the prop and gently bumping the starter in reverse and forward a few times to see if the driveshaft breaks free.

I tried to upload pictures and it kept saying file is too large. I suppose these days some people think everything is fake. I feel sorry for you racer. I've been a mechanic for 42 years but rarely fool with outboards. I really don't need your help because clearly you have issues.

OK after heating, beating, prying and cussing I now have about 1/8th inch at the stud and 1/2 inch at the back. I believe that the drive shaft is the culprit. Any ideas would be great. Thanks

130 top cylinder, 132 psi on the bottom. I got a little to aggressive with the big rubber mallet yesterday and cracked it a bit. Hard spot to get a good straight whack at it. We'll try a little heat and persuasion next.

Gotcha. Previous owner said it ran fine the one and only day he took it out. He said he paid a boat repair shop to make sure it was running good. I guess I'm just a sucker. Should have done a compression test before I bought it at least. We'll see what happens. Thanks

Ok I'll try a little heat and beat method on the stud. I just bought the rig and it's a saltwater boat that's been sitting for 3 years. I ran it for a minute on muffs and she wasn't peeing. Checked for boogies and bugs in the line and nothing blocked. Trying to replace water pump and thermostat...

Yes. I used a big rubber mallet on the housing and then a hammer and punch on the stud and nut (partially threaded on) and no luck. Could it be a rusty stuck drive shaft? Thanks

I have the shift rod separated and the 4 bolts and 1 front nut off. Lower unit ony moved hair (1/16th inch) at rear and seems stuck completely at the front where the stud and nut are. Soaked stud with Deep Creep and then with Lime Away. Any ideas greatly appreciated!
