    1977 70 hp evinrude idles REAL high at start, then mellows out

    Sounds like fly wheel is gonna blast off in to outer space. Is this a symptom of dirty carbs? After inspection, there are no fuel/air mixture screws on carbs or intake manifold. Should I clean low speed orifice with a paper clip and carb cleaner?

    Lower unit reassembly

    Resealed and installed new water pump on 1977 70 hp engine. Now when I try to put the lower unit back on, the drive shaft is blocked by something and idk what. Should I rotate the flywheel? I removed the shift rod to make sure it was the driveshaft hitting something...TYIA

    Prop shaft oil seals 1977 70 hp 70773S model number

    Are the prop shaft oil seals a pain in the neck to remove? I've removed the spring and a rubber seal that seems to be seated in a metal ring. But the metal ring is very stuck and bending. I am using a flat head screw driver to try and pry it out. racerone: where you at boss I need your guidance LOL
