    I have a 1981 Johnson 35 and have recently bought a new lower-unit and don’t know the year but when I try to put my shaft in doesn’t go all the way down the water pump key indent is about 3 inches higher than it needs to be, any ideas?

    I’m thinking about getting a new lower unit and it doesn’t come with a drive shaft, I’m wondering if I’d need to take the prop shaft apart to connect the pinion and drive shaft?

    My 35 has been jumping up and down when given gas in forward doesn’t do it in neutral or reverse, has anyone had a similar problem that can help me?
