    Makes sense, but yes gasket is up. When I replaced it this time, I filled the filter with oil so will see next time when I change it before Winter. Boat seems to run fine, oil pressure is good temp is good so not sure why it was only half full. Weird.

    4.3 LX changed the oil and the "small" vertical oil filter was only half full of oil. Seemed odd to me, as the filter is vertical how would it empty 1/2 out as it did. Thoughts appreciated.

    The manual says 4qts, if I put 4qts in there it would go above the max line on the dip stick. Or my dipstick is going too far down. I looked at some pics of the dipstick, and I am about 99% sure it is the original. But it is missing this sleeve that looks like it slides over the stick...

    I see there is a grease fitting on the top of the fly wheel. No zerk fitting, but it looks like it is a spring loaded ball bearing type thing. No idea if it needs it, but I doubt it has been done in a really long time. What would I use for grease and how much do you put in there...

    I installed the Pertronix electronic ignition yesterday, started it and it is idling at 1400 r.p.m. I need to get a timing light from a friend, as I am sure I can do this. But do you set the idle prior to timing, or time first then adjust idle? Seems like one or the other wash each other...
