    HONDA 9.9 FITS!

Run sea foam in the gas regularly and especially during storage for any long periods, cleans varnish in the carb and valves and deals with ethanol or water in the fuel.

Honda 225 Outboard Ignition Issues - Won't Start

On many occasions when you have a bad wire connection, it will feel hot to touch, check that after trying to start or after leaving the key on for a while.

    Honda BF130A Hour Meter

What year is your outboard? Likely too old to have a factory log on hours, it must be an add on of some sort. The pre say 2005 Honda outboards did not log hours, not sure what year this started on them but 130’s like my 1999 stopped production before this feature was available. Post a picture...

Honda BF75 "Making Oil" – Need Help with Thermostat in Cold Climate

Sounds like you have a 160 thermostat so it’s closed until the operating temperature of the water circulating reaches 160. It opens at 160 when you are running at higher rpm’s. Putting a 180 in means it opens at 180, it doesn’t change the operating temperature of your outboard at idle/trolling...

Honda BF75 "Making Oil" – Need Help with Thermostat in Cold Climate

Water temp here runs in the 40’s to 70’sF, never heard of a thermostat causing your problem, I think mine is a 160. None of the boat shops around here sell different temperature thermostats, I’d say your issue is something else. My old carbed cars run a 180, same if it’s real cold, no different...

2013 Honda 9.9 Running Rough or Not Starting

Check spark plug, see if it’s clean or fouled. If not run hot regularly, it may have gotten a buildup of varnish in the fuel system. Can you add a load of sea foam to the fuel supply for the 9.9 and give it a good run for a minimum of 30 minutes? After checking spark plug?

2010 Honda BF225 starts immediately but dies as soon as the rpm’s fall from the initial start.

There was some older gray fuel line that had problems with the plastic liner delaminating and clogging things up. I use the newer gray line, it is good stuff.

2010 Honda BF225 starts immediately but dies as soon as the rpm’s fall from the initial start.

Fuel effects both, from the central fuel tank to both outboards. Bad fuel, water in it, clogged water separator fuel filter, water in the fuel. Try a portable fuel tank with new fuel on each, add a generous quantity of sea foam to the portable tank fuel. You could have something bad that made...

Honda 20D tell tail seems a little weak?

Edit my reply: I would check the thermostat to see if that is clean, if there is a blockage somewhere when using a hose flush, I’d say you see some evidence in the thermostat area or the thermostat itself.

    Land run 2017 BF60A

I also only use an old plastic barrel for running the outboard, my 130 takes a long time of running to get the water temperature in the barrel up to say 160/180. Usually I’m doing this to rinse the salt out, so I’m running at 2000 rpm for 15 minutes, the barrel water never gets real hot. I’d...

Another approach to carb channel cleaning??

Bbq lighters that are refillable use butane and the can of butane I buy to refill them has different size nozzles to fit different lighters. It is liquid while stored under pressure. The butane is pressurized in a spray can, it would put pressure on a blockage as well as pass solvent/butane...

    Salt Away

The only way this would cause running issues is if saltaway got sucked into an air intake and entered the fuel system-carb or FI. Or you got something wet in the ignition system- like say a wet spark plug that allowed an electrical spark.

    Honda BFP 60 stalling

Try running it on a portable tank to eliminate issues with your fuel tank and lines. When you changed your Racor, did you dump it into a clear container and was there anything in the fuel? When you changed the water pump, did you do the full kit or just the impeller? When it shuts down, does...

Honda BF29D Carb with Auto Choke

I have used 50/50 atf acetone on rusted pistons, it works very good. I think the atf keeps the acetone from evaporating so it stays around for a prolonged soak. Not sure how acetone will effect orings so keep away from rubber. I suggested acetone alone as that will be the strongest solution...

Honda BF29D Carb with Auto Choke

Acetone? Stronger than carb cleaner but will also evaporate so you may have to keep adding some frequently. Might try it to see if whatever is in there softens a bit.

    Honda 2016 BF60 stalls

Any alarm? Could be fuel tank or line issue, first thing I’d do is run it off a portable tank with a good primer bulb and clean gas. If your boat has an in line fuel water separator, I’d empty that into a clean clear container and check for water and dirt, even if it was just changed.
