    9.9 4 Stroke Mercury Fuel in Oil

    Working on a 9.9 4 Stroke Mercury serial number OR4415xx. I pulled the dipstick and fuel/oil spurted out. I am guessing the fuel pump is the only way for fuel to get in the crankcase?

    There should be a wheel just forward of the fuel line connector on the tiller handle. It is likely turned too far. I don't know if this feature was on the 65 model.

    I didn't mention it but finding the serial number is the problem. Where the serial number should be is a plate with a state registration number attached. I had to buy a fuel fitting for this motor...
