  1. Re: Random fuel starvation issue, Honda 250 - bulb?

Roger that! Glad you found the problem and it was a simple fix.

What was the source of the debris?

Why not provide more detail on how you determined that was the issue and what you did to...

    Re: Boat Power Trim/Tilt Issue

I suggest you post this on the Evinrude Forum. Go to top left of this page, click on "Forum Home" and scroll down to the Evinrude Outboard forum and post there.
  3. Re: Random fuel starvation issue, Honda 250 - bulb?

I've been told that all Honda 200/225/250 fuel lines should be 5/16" inside diameter.

How full was your fuel tank(s)? That is, is there any possibility that you are sucking air into the fuel lines...

Let them know how badly they screwed up and ask for a refund. If not, file a complaint with the BBB.

    Re: 2002 honda outboard woes

That is excellent advice from Ian and very well could be the source of all of your issues.

The link to the manual I sent to you tells you how to remove/test the VTEC solenoid.
  6. Re: Dead battery - Got jumped - Drove for 40 minutes - Stopped boat to restart it, battery dead agai

You are correct about the charging times. I suspect that you may have a connector problem - i.e. a bad/corroded/loose connection that has too much resistance and impedes the flow of electricity to...

    Re: 2002 honda outboard woes

Hmmm. On the face of it the numbers seem quite good, but I have no idea why the starboard side would be so different that the port side.

As I indicated previously, re-adjusting the valves would...

OK. Let's assume they did it correctly unless all else fails to uncover the issue.

Ian - thanks for setting us straight on that HO2 sensor.

Could be faulty t-stats - one not fully opening, or coated in gunk. Remove t-stats, put in pan with water covering, heat up the pan of water, use cooking thermometer, and observe. (Don't let the...

    Re: Bf225 not running correctly.

Dropbox insists that I sign up and download their app, which I will not do. The electrodes on the plugs should be a milk chocolate brown.

    Re: Bf225 not running correctly.

Well, that COULD be the problem! I don't recognize that part number. It's a valid part number, but it's not listed for the BF 225.

What is the serial number of your engine? What is the part number...

Re: Fuel Additives & New Seafoam Marine Pro

Gear Head. I thought Techron superseded techroline. And I thought that the Ring Free was a Techron mixture. Am I wrong about that?

Anyway, I run a bottle of YamaLube Ring-Free, at the maintenance...

    Re: Bf225 not running correctly.

Ian's comment got me thinking? What is the make and number of the spark plugs you are using? This engine only runs properly using the NGK IZFR6F-11 irridium-tipped plugs. There have been problems...

Repeating jgmo's question - just what were the compression numbers?

The heads on these motors are pretty rugged UNLESS they are not flushed correctly after every use in saltwater. Many users have...

    Re: Bf225 not running correctly.

    OK on the VST draining.

It does sound like a fuel problem based on your description, but you never know for sure. These are pretty tricky engines at times.

If you have a Helm shop manual,...

    Re: 2004 bf225 engine problems

Well, if you have a lot of time and the talent to do a rebuild, that's certainly an option, if you want to give up a month or two without the use of the boat. But you also need to consider the other...

    Re: Bf225 not running correctly.

First thing I would do is clear the fault codes, then run the engine again until it acts up, then see what codes you get, if any. You clear the fault codes from the ECM by activating the kill switch...

    Agree with Ian.

If you have an eBay seller's account and/or access to Craig's List, you could part it out and sell the individual parts to recover a significant portion of the cost of a new...
  20. Re: Resetting check engine light 2008 BF90D

I think all Honda outboards are the same - with key switch on and the shunt on the service connector in place, disengage the kill switch yoke and activate the kill switch button 5 times within 20...
