Re: 1960 Sea King GG8822A Compatibility

The Gale 5D17 motors are what your motor is based from. Many parts can come from the earlier 5D motors and the Evinrude 5 1/2HP or 7 1/2HP or Johnson CD or AD motors from the late 50s to early 60s.

    Re: Wizard Outboard Motor

The WN7A is made by Mercury in 56-57 as a 12HP motor but your serial number doesn't match unless the 8 is a 9. There is a 7.5 listed as being made in 59 by Scott. Couple of possible sources are...

Re: oil to gas ratio for a 1955 evinrude 15 hp

Any brand of TCW3 rated oil will work. Add a quart to 4 gallons of fuel. Non-oxygenated fuel is preferred if available. If not drain the carb after use to prevent the ethanol eating the coating off...
  8. Re: 1959 Johnson 10hp seahorse help please! Spark plugs and rebuild question.

The mounting area should have an offset area. It may look like an angled area or be sharply defined. 3223 This is a sharply defined offset. The angled area would be just a notch at the top of the...

    Re: what do i have??

The transom plate points to a 1954 Evinrude Fastwin 15HP motor. The other number looks to be from a newer Johnson but not sure of year. Transom brackets fit on a number of different motors and years...

Re: How do I tell what year it is?

1980 made by Eska with a Tecumseh power head. Sears may or may not carry some tuneup parts. Most times I find the year info at http://discount-marine-parts.com/index.html.

Re: 1962 Evinrude 40HP Lark 4 outboard Problem

No. The core plug closes off the bottom of thermostat housing. The spark plug hole can be repaired with an helicoil insert or replaced with another head.

Re: 1955 Evinrude Fisherman oil to use

  20. Re: trying to identify my dad's old Johnson motor

Use this link to figure the code by the model number: http://www.marineengine.com/parts/model_guide_post80.html To me it looks like a 1990 short shaft 9.9 Canadian model.
