    Re: Mercruiser to crusader

Are these engines providing power to outdrives? If so, the extra wire may be to momentarily kill the engine while shifting to neutral. I only know this from seeing it on a friend's boat.

    Can...

Re: Cold oil filter, Crusader 270

On my Crusader 270s with the standard (in 1977) 13/16" threaded nipple, I use either NAPA Gold 1061 or WIX 51061 filters. These don't have the silicone anti-drainback check-valve.

    NAPA...

Re: Cold oil filter, Crusader 270

I agree with the others about that plug probably not being the cause of the problem. If that was a likely culprit, we would hear of that happening in the thousands of GM vehicles on the road. But...

Re: Cold oil filter, Crusader 270

Here's the oil filter mount without the bypass valve installed. This is on a 1977 Crusader 270. I included the oil pump mount so that you can see its location in relation to the filter mount.

Re: Cold oil filter, Crusader 270

I have Crusader 270s also, but I don't have the remote filter. The photo below shows where the filter attaches to the threaded nipple in the center. (The photo is looking from the bottom of the...

    Re: OSCO manifolds / risers

I have some extra gaskets that came with the Barr exhaust components I bought a couple years ago. The gaskets are made from Interface Solutions N-8094 material - if you Google the bold text you can...
  7. Re: EST distributor problem?.. no timing advance or shift assist

I have EST distributors on my Crusader 350 c.i. V-8 engines purchased several years apart. Like you, the module one distributor came with didn't go into service mode so I replaced it with another -...

    Re: crusader blue brushable paint

I have not seen Crusader Blue as brushable paint.

I use a spray can and touch up my engines in small areas at a time. I use lots of newspaper and a little masking tape to prevent overspray. ...

Given that this started with giving the engine a bath, maybe a cracked distributor cap?

    Re: Carburetor wedge

I sent two QJets to Cliff last year. He told me that he moves marine carb rebuilds to the head of the line. I'm not sure why he does that.

I had the same outcome that kevin_z wrote about --...

Re: 81 Fiberform Laser 1610 tonneau cover

Are you located in an area that has lots of boats? If so, look for a good canvas shop. They make custom covers everyday.

Re: engine won't rev past 3000 rpms under load

The fact that you found crud in your anti-siphon valve is a major clue. Did you check it again after running the engines up? Also, it could be that you have a screen on the bottom of the fuel...
  13. Re: Mercruiser 5,7 with Delco EST don't save the distributor timing

Going back to the beginning, with the jumper installed and powered and the timing adjusted, have you tried just pulling out the jumper (with power and without power) before shutting off the engine? ...

    Re: Overcooling off plane

It seems like there was another situation similar to this within the past year, and it ended up the hoses were not routed from the thermostat housing to the correct ports. Have you verified your...

  16. Re: merc 5.7 MPI motr runs rough, stalls after running at cruise for less than 20 minutes

I would run the engine off of a portable external fuel tank with new gas and a brand new fuel line from that tank to the fuel pump.

I really can't answer your questions. I'm just a boat owner. I'll leave it to others who have more experience with Volvo products to answer.

Re: 5.7 GSI lower water pump dripping

Sounds like it's your raw water pump that is leaking. I don't have a Volvo engine, but I had the folks at "RawPumps" rebuild mine last winter. They returned my pumps quickly and in "like new"...

Re: 1990 OMC 4.3 Oil Pressure Drop and Stall

I suspect you do indeed have crud in your fuel. It's probably clogging the fuel pickup screen (if there is one), or the fuel anti-siphon valve which should be located on top of the tank between the...

Re: 350 Mag running choppy/ won’t get on plane

I see large drops of fuel in the lower-left primary. I'm no expert, but I think the fuel should be atomized at that point. I had a similar situation, but with a Quadrajet carb. I was able to get...
