  1. Re: Chris Craft lancer 350 Q starter problems

While looking for a Marine SBC Reverse RH Rotation engine starter motor, I stumbled onto this old MarineEngine dot com thread.
(the OP turned grouchy when he did not receive the answer he was...
  2. Re: Chris Craft lancer 350 Q starter problems

To confirm: you do have a REV RH Rotation SBC and you need a cylinder block mounted starter motor for a 153 tooth ring gear ..... correct?

Have you tried Arco or Seamanufacturing in Florida?
  3. Re: Chris Craft lancer 350 Q starter problems

That should be easy to find in a HTGR/PMGR motor.
You will need to know the size of your flywheel…… It will be either a 153 or a 168 tooth ring gear.
Be sure to get the bolts with it!
  4. Re: Chris Craft lancer 350 Q starter problems

Does your starter motor mount to the engine block, or does it mount to the flywheel cover?
  5. Re: Chris Craft lancer 350 Q starter problems

Let's make sure that we're on the same page here, and not confuse engine rotation with starter motor rotation.

    See if this image helps.

Shown on the left side is a Std LH Rotation engine,...

Correct..... it will not solve the oil leak problem!

  8. Re: Volvo DP Cotrim Outdrive stock on Neutral.

Drain the gear oil into a clean container (if it's clean, it can safely be reused).
    Remove the shift mechanism.
Look to see if the shift shoe is broken.

You will need 3 new OEM O-rings.

    Re: DP-C1 trim cylinder removal

It sounds like you are describing suspension fork hinge pin removal.
If so, be very careful. These pins are soft, and will expand if you drive against them with a steel punch.
    If they were to...

    Re: DP-C1 trim cylinder removal

The cylinder base pins are removed hydraulically with grease gun pressure.

See your OEM work shop or service manual for the procedure.

Are you looking for the S hose that connects the water neck fitting to the chrome tube?

I thought that I was the only one up this early!!!!!!

I believe that SEQ #6 is the small snap ring.
The forward most seal would be SEQ # 3.
The seals will be marked in Metric dimensions.

  14. Re: Heat Exchanger inlet vs outlet temps

Jon, I just did a quick search regarding a car/truck radiator cooling percentage...... and found that approx 25% to 30% of the engine's heat is transferred into the engine's coolant. I'd think that...

    Good job!

Regarding the two cap screws for the helmet pin........ make darn certain that the correct length cap screws go back in.

  17. Re: In response to a PM from member Blake Brancheau

DO NOT weld anything to the PDS! The PDS is machined from hardened material, and heat may damage it.

Wrap some copper or brass shim stock around the PDS splines.
Grab onto that area with the...

1... it may be stubborn due to rust/corrosion at/in the Borg Warner splines. Try shocking it forward with a brass hammer.
If that doesn't free it, I'll make a last resort suggestion for you.

1..... PDS = Primary Drive Shaft. In other words... PDS means Primary Drive Shaft.

There are three areas of shim control...
