    Re: Correct sending unit

The sender needed replacing. I learned also that the screw pattern is common. The unit works in a tank from 6" to 12" deep, mines 11, so I should be good to go. I hope.:)

    Re: Correct sending unit

Yes, that test was already done and the gauge went to full. The tank is 11" deep and the unit is 10 1/2 long. I'm assuming that the diameter of the top mount and the screw pattern is universal?

Looking for a new trailer jack

I have a 22 foot, 1978 Cruiser. Boat and trailer weigh about 5800 pounds. Would this 1500 pound trailer jack be sufficient for that setup? Mine sorely needs to be replaced.

    Re: Tires wearing bad

Sorry, I missed this one. They were worn smoothly. When he dropped it off at the tire shop today, the tire guys said that the rear tires were hot.

    Re: Tires wearing bad

From what he said, it sets a little low at the tongue. Driving four hours on winding roads may be raking the rears to wear like that??

    Tires wearing bad

A friend of mine bought a new boat and trailer. Trailer has two axles and the tires on the back axles wore out in 3000 miles. Fronts are fine. What would cause this?

    Re: Manual shift/mid 2005ish 25hp Mercury

100% agree. I guess if you started out with this setup, it might be OK. But for old dogs.......a PITA. Took off one day for a troll and instead of backing up, I ran further up the bank and banged...

    Re: Manual shift/mid 2005ish 25hp Mercury

Thanks. I'll check that out. I've been shifting with side levers for 35 years. This old dog just can't adjust to that fangdangled throttle/shifter all in one.

    Re: Color touchup on deck

These dings aren't very big. I was reading an article about using auto paint pens. Anybody have experience with these? They might not be very durable. We don't walk on cars.:)
