    Re: 66 9.5 won't run, fuel tank

The arrow on the primer bulb is for direction flow of fuel not up. I place mine about a foot or so from gas tank or just replace it in the same location in the original fuel line.

    Re: 1990 8hp Johnson won't idle/stay running

First thing is quit using starter fluid. These engines run on a mix of gas and oil to lubricate them. You'll fry the piston using that stuff.

Re: Johnson Seahorse 10 QD-21 Oil Leak

That's most likely un-burned oil from your gas/oil mix. I'd be more concerned with the water pump. I wouldn't run the motor any more until it gets replaced. Being as old as it is it needs changing....

    Re: 15 hp over RPM?

You sure have something wrong there....spun hub perhaps.
I have an '86 15hp Johnson that will put you in the back (the wife didn't hear me say "hold on" and came tumbling off the front bench to my...

Re: 1976-ish 6hp Evinrude motor maintenance

Always good to start fresh with new lower unit grease
  10. Re: Old school 1964 Evinrude 5.5 water pump and tuning questions.

Using synthetic 2 stroke oil will help with fouling problems.

Re: question on older johnson outboard?

Sounds like you have a "frankenmotor" built from parts.

    Re: Gear oil problem

Milky color is usually the key after it's ran. Drain all the oil into a pan and give it a day to settle out. You'll see if you have water. You might even see water coming out when you open the bottom...

Re: 1960 Evinrude 75 HP motor update

    Re: Question on 4hp Evinrude

OK, I just checked to see if it was the hub moving or the shaft. It is indeed the hub, it is loose on the shaft, but is hanging up on something..... a burr somewhere?
At this point I think I'll...

    Re: Question on 4hp Evinrude

I'll try that. I was afraid the hub may be held on buy something. Never seeing this arrangement before I didn't want to put any undo force on it if it was.

    Re: Question on 4hp Evinrude

    Thanks for the information.
The "hub" will move about 1/8" more or less back & forth on shaft but won't allow me to pull it off. Right about now I'm wondering if I even need to and just let it be.

    Question on 4hp Evinrude

My friend dropped his motor off 4906B E06097 to store in my heated garage for the winter. He had not done any winterizing on it so I told him I would for him.
He said it was a good running little...

That Flex Hone or"ball hone" as you call it, was introduced years ago.. The CAT hydraulic division employees quickly nicknamed them "dingle berry brushes". :)
