  1. Re: Water in lower unit., weep hole leaking.

Awesome, I never could find one for my '78 when I had it tore down.
  2. Re: Water in lower unit., weep hole leaking.

I'm the causing confusion one. I meant that finding a replacement is impossible.
  3. Re: Water in lower unit., weep hole leaking.

OK, I don't want to be "that guy". You're cracking a joke at me, right?
  4. Re: Water in lower unit., weep hole leaking.

Hopefully not, that boot is impossible to find.
  5. Re: Mariner/Yamaha 60 hp made in Japan

Ask for Jack at Seaway; he can find almost anything.
  6. Re: Mariner/Yamaha 60 hp made in Japan

Hit the parts tab above, enter your serial number, search for parts, if you don't find 'em, get the part numbers and search online. It may take a bit of searching for those old yami built motors....
  7. Re: Water in lower unit., weep hole leaking.

  8. Re: Terminology: Pop, Cough, Sneeze, Spit -- All the same thing?

It also does a good job of steam cleaning the cylinders
  9. Re: Water in lower unit., weep hole leaking.

Water can get in the gear oil in two places;the seal under the water pump and the seal on the prop shaft.
As for the water coming out the exhaust relief holes; I haven't run my motor on muffs for...

Here is a paper put out by Fernando Salazar at the Department of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering
    University of Notre Dame.

    Re: Magneto Breaker Points

A light filing and I got no resistance. Put it back together, reset the breaker gap, and the spark test came out better. Thanks teachers

    Re: Magneto Breaker Points

I bought an ignition point file from an auto parts store. It is very fine. I'm just hesitant to use it. The contacts now look grey. I took a lot of oil and dirt off. Like I said, the resistance is...

    Re: Magneto Breaker Points

I'm glad you brought up crocus cloth. I've always wondered what was different about it; so I checked it out, after reading your post.
I've always thought, "Why not use emery cloth". And I've always...

After dewinterizing and warming up my 1978 Mariner 40B (started right up), I gave it a little gas. It started getting some smoke. I gave it a little more and it cleared out. It did this last year, so...

    Re: 88 Mariner Powerhead removal

You must remove the 8 bolts that come up through the drive shaft housing, and remove the power head to take the lower cowl off. Once you get the power head off you'll want to get the cowl off to...

    Re: Free Service Manuals

Search, search, search on the internet. You may find an owners manual, but a service manual; you gotta pay! Some of them you can check-out at the public library.

    Re: fuel "mileage"

    Is your statement backwards Guyjg?

My guess is, you could move up, but you need a tach to know for sure. I'm not sure if a 15 1/2 ft. john boat is rated for a 60hp motor.
