Re: Which one? Honda 9.9 15 or 20?

As Jimmy said, the fuel injection will keep the air/fuel mixture where the engine likes it. However, you will have to change props when changing altitudes.

To figure out what prop you need, you...
  2. Re: Water in lower unit after changing water pump BF50

Most of the time, they go back to back like Jimmy says....however, these particular seals in the 50, both go the same way....the smooth side will be up as you put them in. The open sides go down.

Re: Which one? Honda 9.9 15 or 20?

Tohatsu, Mercury (which is a Tohatsu), and Suzuki all make 9.9 fuel injected motors.

I am looking for lightning strikes mentioning these brands on here.....LOL

Re: Honda BF90A which hasn't run in 10 years

Looks like you had quite an adventure. You're just about ready to go.

As for the tach question.....see the post that I just made on the same...

    Re: Bf90 tach

The 37250-ZV5-950AH will work fine with your motor. It will work with any Honda outboard except older 35 -50 HP.

There is a rotating switch on the back to select the proper setting for different...

    Re: Bf90 tach

That is an old gauge. It was around with the Bf25A and BF30A in the late 90's. https://www.boats.net/product/honda/37250-ZV7-912

Theoretically, it should work with the 90 since the pole...

Re: BF9 stutters once warm and stops

It is also possible that it is overheating and shutting itself down. Pull the thermostat and start the motor (in water or on a hose, of course). Water should shoot out of the thermostat housing. ...

    Re: Spark Plug Trouble

My guess of a newer model was wrong. Sorry for misleading.

Your throttle sounds like it is functioning correctly.

Although, to efficiently start these models, I have found to advance the...

Re: Honda bf130 getting to much gas

    Congratulations on your perseverance!

    How did you find that?

    Were there no alarms?

    Which one was it?

It must have been way out of spec.

    Re: Spark Plug Trouble

Not knowing what age the 15 hp is, I am going to assume it is a fairly current model.

I am going out into left field for this thought.....it might not be spark plugs at all.

    One thing that...
  11. Re: Honda 2007 BF90d requires periodic fuel priming.

Topcat256 brings up a good point. Checked for pinched or kinked fuel line, especially going into the engine. You should be able to pull the fuel line each way a small amount back and forth...
  12. Re: Honda 2007 BF90d requires periodic fuel priming.

Your old filter was for a carbureted 90. Your replacement filter the correct filter for your engine.

The bulb will be somewhat soft once the motor starts running. Normally a few pumps and it...
  13. Re: Honda 2007 BF90d requires periodic fuel priming.

Yes...it could be any of the above.

Does this happen when you go a long time at slow speeds or when you are running high throttle under a heavy load?

Of course, make sure all of the fuel line...

Re: BF30A Oil pressure light questions

The light should burn green when the motor is running...showing good oil pressure.

So the first thing to do is check the oil level. If it is old, change the oil. Make sure that the level on...

    Re: Honda bf90 question

It sounds correct. The water flows up the water tube, through the head to the thermostat. Then the water flows out through the exhaust. This will happen quickly since you removed the thermostat....

    Re: Intermittent slowness

I would not "open" it up unless you have the gaskets to put it back together.

Hopefully, the fuel line that you are getting is 5/16" inside diameter or maybe even a little smaller for this...
  17. Re: What size bolt for tilt/trim fluid tank? Stripped female on t/t unit

I can not find any measurements on that bolt. However, if that is the bolt that you need to replace, there are two other ones. Take one of the other ones and try to match it up at the hardware...
  18. Re: Honda BF90D DK2 Wiring Issues - Main Harness Connector

There are special crimpers that are part of the Honda connector kit. See picture. However, if you are real careful and inventive, you could use a regular butt connector crimper or even the jagged...

Re: New 9.9 - Delay in spitting water

    Telltale should start almost immediately.

The water needs to be over the water pump, which is at the top of the lower unit.

If it is a tiller model, it does not have an audible alarm. It just...
