  1. Re: 2002 Mercury ELPTO 60 2 stroke starts badly after shallow water mode

Are you saying it runs badly when tilted up, or does it now run bad after you tilt it back down to normal level?
It would be a good idea for a carb clean and fuel pump diaphragm check.

Re: Compression test on 150hp merc EFI

    Re: DT2 wont start?

Def a fuel issue! It is always best to have a fuel filter on there, the slightest bit of dirt can clog the system and then you have problems, best would be to clean out the complete fuel system and...

Re: Tohatsu and Yamaha 25HP Outboard

Well put it this way, you have a high trust motor so it was built with a bigger prop in mind pushing a heaver load. You definitely have the right motor for your setup. I never really believe in these...

Re: Tohatsu and Yamaha 25HP Outboard

Yamaha build their motors quite a bit more solid than Tohatsu does, that is also why it is slightly heavier. I use to race both Tohatsu and Yamaha - just to put it into perspective, on a Yamaha you...
  6. Re: DT40C hard to start, and loud pop on firing

You can adjust the cable coming from your control to lower the idle. It is normal for exhaust fumes to come out the middle port on the leg upper where the water sputter out yes. Try and reset your...
  7. Re: DT40C hard to start, and loud pop on firing

It idles nicely, a bit high though, or do you have it on fast idle?

When you remove your air box, above the throat of the carb you will see an adjustment screw, that is the air screw, I think this...
  8. Re: DT40C hard to start, and loud pop on firing

Ideally dismantling would be no 1. Alternatively you can just reset your air/fuel mix for now (1 & 1/2 turns outwards from soft stop) and then run fuel system cleaner in your fuel. you can then...
  9. Re: DT40C hard to start, and loud pop on firing

By pop I assume you mean the lean sneeze that suzuki's are known for? Ideally your motor should start immediately, if not it is time for a proper carb clean. Your starting method is correct, but it...
  10. Re: DT40C prop won't turn either way in reverse, normal?

Hi Andy, yes that sounds correct, you can test it on muffs then at least it is not under load.

    Re: DT15

These CDI's do not fail very often they are pretty much bullet proof. Start off simple and make sure both spark plug work, check all connections and then test your stator outputs.
  12. Re: Running cutting oil through the cooling system to keep it from rusting?

Interesting opinions, thanks guys! The main reason I started to worry about this is the amount of rusty water that comes out when I drain it. A few weeks ago I replaced my impeller on my alpha one...
  13. Running cutting oil through the cooling system to keep it from rusting?

Hi guys, I was wondering ... I use soluble cutting oil on my lathe at home and thought this might actually work. I have the 4.3L Mpi with open cooling system, even though I only use it on fresh water...

  15. Re: Problem with DT30 3 cylinder suzuki 1992 model

Good luck, let us know how it goes, while you are in there make sure you just go over all the fuel lines and make sure they are tight. Crank seals are a problem with these motors but you only need to...
  16. Re: Oil change via the hose extension out the bung hole.

On the contrary, you haven't had a boat unless you forgot to do that at least once ;) .... and it only happens once, then you will never forgot again ....
  17. Re: Oil change via the hose extension out the bung hole.

That is correct, all US boats have the small drain, I now remember, although not alot of US boats around here, mine has a 30mm drain hole so it fill fit right through.

    Re: mariner 60hp bigfoot 1990

The magnet inside the oil tank is Surrounded by oil. If the oil penetrates the magnet or jells on top of it, the magnet will settle or stick to the bottom, tripping the sender. The magnet is located...

Ideally there should be one, and located in the controls, do you get a beep when starting up?
