Re: In search of 1957 Lark

The Javelin was a "fancier" model of a Johnson. They included stainless steel trim and recoil starter door. Mine is missing the door, but it is electric start.

    Re: Looking for a part

    Right, only costs one cent.
  3. Re: What to look for Johnson 9.9 Model#E10RL4EE

Right. O2 sensors are a common failure, as are carbs on seasonal equipment. A compression and spark test are good starting points. Look for any evidence of overheating, like melting of any parts...

Re: Puul start works, push start doesn't

All our local dealers are at the sports show now at our huge arena. Prices are great. Now is the time to buy in Duluth MN. I follow prices, might buy something this year. Thinking a beauty back to...

Re: In search of 1957 Lark

Try Tim's Outboard in Hackensack MN. 218 682 2331 Mike or Dan. I likely have one but haven't tested compression and it is at the back of my shop behind all my other toys. What years will work I can't...

Re: Puul start works, push start doesn't

I started working at a Johnson Evinrude dealer in Duluth in 1972. At that time we did warranty work on everything no matter where it was purchased. What we have now is very depressing.

Re: 97 mariner 75 hp jets

Right, to each his own, eh? For the cost of used carbs, kits, possibly and most likely a different prop, it might not be worth it. Every application dictates direction and every direction is dictated...
  10. Re: 96 evinrude 112spl what years will foot work?

Hi Tim do you have a picture of the damage? A good welder can repair it and you will still have the extra parts for the future, or to sell. There is really no reason for a unit to fail unless it gets...

Re: Johnson 25 HP tiller conversion questions

Right, you guys are so correct. Mosquitoes, Black Flies, can eat you alive too. A little battle every now and then with nature is not all bad. That 33 cu in. Can keep you a step ahead with those...

Re: Johnson 25 HP tiller conversion questions

If you go that route, they may have the front shift adapter too which is really handy. With my feelings on the 33 cu in, that is a sweet motor with great compression. This group of motors make up a...

Re: Johnson 25 HP tiller conversion questions

Just for fun you can give Tim's Outboard in Hackensack MN a call. They would likely have what you need for the conversion. Just call 218 682 2331, Mike or Dan. I might have everything here at my shop...

    Re: 1964 johnson 9.5

Excellent information. Now I am not alone. I run 64:1 in all my "newer" (1964 and up) "vintage" outboards. I have done this since the founder of Amsoil (Al Amatuzio) gave my Dad and I our first case...

    Re: 1964 johnson 9.5

A 1963 10 horse is a faster motor with excellent trolling too, but the 9.5's are such a " fisherman's" motor. I have had crank seal issues with them the last 20 years. The seals get "eaten up" by...

    Re: 65 HP Model

DVA meter? My neighbor has a 1972 50 hp. He put it away for the winter and it had been running great. Next spring (2018) no spark. I got him a used power pack the night before their family trip....

Re: 35 hp motor no spark

They are not the easiest motors to rope start. Many of the early ones had a decompresser. My Dad used to rope start his 40 Lark, he will get a new shoulder in his next life.
