    Re: Shifting troubleshoot nightmare

Are you anywhere near a qualified shop that can take a look? I fear that you may be out of your depth at this early stage in your boating career and with a model that is 30 years old anything could...

Re: bilge pump..alarm..fuses..I'm at a loss

Use an LED instead. That bulb is hot hot hot and you don't wanna get in contact with it...like a bare leg brushing against it...ouch
Also, there are piezo alarms that are loud as hell and don't need...

Re: bilge pump..alarm..fuses..I'm at a loss

Oh and anyone who still uses 1,2, BOTH, OFF switches in their electrical system is using 20th century technology and clearly not up on the latest tech. Jussain.
And float switches for bilge. Get...

Re: bilge pump..alarm..fuses..I'm at a loss

Float switches for bilge pumps are bu hao. They can stick open if there is some debris that jams the float and then the battery goes flat. If there's more water coming in then the boat can sink....
  6. Re: Barnacles inside of lower unit. Okay they were in there? How to remove

CLR in a spray bottle. Keep it wet for a while the calcium will dissolve. The base of the barnacle is made of tougher stuff and you may need a scraper (hard wood or plastic)
  7. Re: Mercruiser 350 low WOT error code 42 w/video

Hm this would be a pretty advanced EFI for 1994. Had no idea. Thanks.
  8. Re: 2005 5L MPI water hose inlet quick disconnect O-ring

I like a small dab of Dawn on o-rings to help it go back together
  9. Re: Mercruiser 350 low WOT error code 42 w/video

This EFI system is fuel only. The ECU doesn't control spark. The noisy timing signal might be a faulty ignition amplifier module.

Re: 502 Merc Build, MPI or Carb, what Cam?

    ECM gets:
Timing pulse from ignition amplifier module inside dizzy
Throttle position (variable voltage from dashpot on butterfly)
Air charge (intake) temp (again variable voltage from heated wire)...

Re: 502 Merc Build, MPI or Carb, what Cam?

EFI haters gonna hate. Carburetors are seen as more reliable due to the fact that they are 100 percent mechanical, and issues with them are easily diagnosed and resolved.
I will flip that and say...

    Slow clap.
  13. Re: questions again.... 181ci 4cyl timing problem....

I don't know how he does it but I think a new record has been set for useless information being added to a thread. It's like he trains up by reading ****** all day.
  14. Re: questions again.... 181ci 4cyl timing problem....

Are you 100 percent certain that your issues are centered on the distributor? You say the engine was rebuilt. Huge red flag there.

Re: New 3.0 in older boat

I bet it was exactly what PCR said it was...a cam plunger whachamash1t thing that was out of adjustment. If only you'd listened to his advice and pulled the valve cover off....

    Re: 454 to 350 question

As long as you have everything from the small block, the change should be fairly easy. That is, the exhaust manifolds, elbows, and y-pipe, alternator, power steering pump, etc. There's not much that...
