    Re: Gas tank question

Nope, that's exactly what the tanks are supposed to do. The valves are one way, only allowing air into the tanks. They swell because the vent valve closes in the outward direction to prevent...

Re: 94 fast strike 150hp not starting

Are you using the primer when you start again? Essentially you have a 'cold' motor after setting for 40 minutes and it might need a primer shot to get started.
  3. Re: Braided Fuel Hose Replacement (For Johnson Carburetor)

I'm not sure about the spec of hose you ordered. I've used fuel injection rated automotive hose on a jet ski before without any issues, but I can't say that's the correct thing to do.
  4. Re: Braided Fuel Hose Replacement (For Johnson Carburetor)

I believe the primary difference between marine and automotive application fuel hose is permeability and fire rating. You might find a fuel hose that meets your diameter then research the...

    Re: 120 Johnson Dies

You need to do a spark gap test to make sure you're getting strong fire to each cylinder.

    Re: New Etec 90 Reliability?

Among several things the injector is completely different. FICHT injectors used Springs to stay closed and solenoid to open. The E-TEC uses a solenoid for both so you get more precise fuel delivery. ...

    Re: 83 90 hp johnson

What is the age/condition of the water pump? It's possible you're not getting good flow and the engine is overheating. Do you get a beep from the alarm when you start the engine? If not you either...

    Re: 1999 Johnson 225 issues!!!

I'm glad it seems to be running right now. When you do a spark test you should have all plugs removed then ground the tester to the block like you did. With the plugs removed the starter can spin...
  11. Re: 95 Johnson 115 hp quit running and leaking oil

You need to do a compression test too. An engine running at speed that just dies could be a piston seizing.

Fuel delivery is definite possibility as well as a failed ignition component.
  12. Re: Johnson/Evinrude 55 HP what does this dirty lower unit mean?

I agree, fix the shift rod height, gear grinding, etc first. Once you know the LU...
  13. Re: 96 Evinrude 112, new prop, same pitch, cavitation issues. What did I do?

The other thing is to double check your engine height while you're at it. Trim down the engine until the anti-ventilation plate on the lower unit is parallel with the bottom of the hull. Now, put a...

Re: Help, Evinrude leaking exhaust oil......

Before you take it to the shop pull off the engine cover then pump the primer bulb until firm. Use a flash light and look all over for leaks out of the carbs, fuel pump, and hoses. If there’s a leak...

Re: Control match up for 150 hp

Did you keep throttle and shift cables or did they go too? It sounds like you need a complete rigging of the new engine.

Re: Control match up for 150 hp

Did you keep the controls off your '93 150 or did they go with the engine? If so I think they should work but I'm not certain about compatibility with the System Check gauge.

    Probably most OMC...

Re: Help, Evinrude leaking exhaust oil......

Definitely shouldn't see fluid leaking from there.

Are you sure it's exhaust oil? Maybe you have a fuel leak in a carb and the gas is evaporating leaving the oil and that's what is dripping...
  20. Re: 96 Evinrude 112, new prop, same pitch, cavitation issues. What did I do?

That's good they are sending a replacement. In the future, don't forget our sponsor site also sells props and they have a nice calculator for size/diameter selection.
