Re: 1990 90hp, broken ring after overhaul

YouTube videos showed me how to install them last year. Using a compression sleeve. You machined your own sleeves? I don't have that kind of spare time.

Re: 1990 90hp, broken ring after overhaul

Should I use the sleeves or a small screwdriver? Would you be so kind as to point me towards the part # for the sleeve for a 3.530 piston?

Re: 1990 90hp, broken ring after overhaul

Ahh. Damn it. I guess that's probably the issue then.
I missed that in the manual apparently.
Apologize for the stupid question, but is that sleeve the same for oversized pistons?
    I will order...

Re: 1990 90hp, broken ring after overhaul

I bought from a dealer out of Florida. The pistons came in plain white boxes. When I called WSM they said their boxes are blue and white and labeled. I specifically wanted to go with WSM, but I'm not...

Re: 1990 90hp, broken ring after overhaul

Damn, I wish I was better educated on that. The supplier sold and advertised them as WSM but the pistons definitely don't have any markings on them aside from the 030 stamp. Makes me question the...

Re: 1990 90hp, broken ring after overhaul

I ordered a complete overhaul kit for the engine, pistons looked the same as the old ones. I did not check ring gap. Piston to bore clearance was checked by the machine shop, not sure on numbers. Max...

    Morning all,

Rebuilt my engine at the start of last season. Engine shop bored 030, new everything except con rods and crank. WSM pistons. Carb kits, proper break in, idle and WOT timing set. Boat...

Re: 1976 70HP Evinrude Boat Test

I can't reference the manual until I get home a little later, but it is the procedure to make sure throttle linkage, cam, carb butterflies, timer base, etc, all move when they are supposed to....

Re: I-pilot upgrade for PowerDrive V2 dilemma

    Minn Kota PowerDrive V2 I-Pilot Upgrade Kit - Trollingmotorparts.com

Little pricey, and you lose the foot control, but it'll work on your era v2.

    Re: Prop nut flat washer

This was just a regular flat washer in between the prop washer and the prop nut.
I'm thinking it shouldn't even be there. Never thought twice about it until I looked at the diagram yesterday.

Sorry I wasn't trying to be an a hole by any means. The k,m,M, etc differ by a very significant value.
I will however step aside and let the pros pick this back up.
  16. Re: 75 horse Merc Running Poorly - New to me boat

Can't help you much with the Merc, but you definitely need to read up on using a multi meter.
Which actually may indirectly help you with the Merc..
