    Re: Honda bf15a rebuild

I don't think Honda has ever provided for oversize cylinder bores on any of the twin engines. So, if you have to take it outside of the wear limits to clean it up you'll likely need a replacement...
  2. Re: Wont start in HOT sun after sitting an hour

What year is your outboard? Fuel injected or carburetors?

If you can remove the cover without too much trouble see if it makes a difference. If so, that might be an indication that your thoughts...

Re: Broken bolt for zinc on frame BF20D

It's been awhile but I'm pretty sure its under the jacket cover.
When you're in there check the flush valve seal and spring so you don't get THAT dreaded water leak.
Then, NEVER use that flush port...

Re: Broken bolt for zinc on frame BF20D

This may be a case where you could benefit from using a RESCUE BIT. The Rescue Bit is designed for helping remove broken off screw extractors and drills but also works really well on broken off...
  5. Re: BF9.9 (2004) can't operate above 1K RPM and below 3K RPM

Good onya mate fer takin' the bull by the horns!

That "shop" has been wasting your time AND your money!

My opinion is that the new carb will make your outboard AND you happy.

  7. Re: Ok it gets better Flywheel magnet broken in half.

    Again, what is IT?
Model, year please. Others with the same outboard/ issue will want to know.
    Thanks.

As far as ignoring crankshaft thrust...do so at your own peril. Lots and lots of engines...
  8. Re: 15hp outboard honda 2004 power to motor but dead and no trim or tilt as well

This sounds like a classic case of loose or corroded battery cable contacts. Take off BOTH ENDS of each cable and clean them AND the contact point they attach to with a wire brush.

    For example:...
  9. Re: Ok it gets better Flywheel magnet broken in half.

    What model and year?
I'd be concerned about WHY the coil broke. Is there any evidence of.some sort of contact? Or do you think it just cracked on it's own.
This is a fairly unusual occurrence in...

    Re: Hard shifting BF90

Well, I don't think oiling those bushings is necessary. Being bushings they probably aren't tight but could be just the opposite...wallowed out and letting those sectors "cock and bind". I don't ...

    Re: Hard shifting BF90

Just a guess but there are 2 bushings that may be part of the problem. Items 16 & 17 in the link illustration.

Have you tried isolating the two throttle cables under the hood to check if one is...

Re: Frozen screws for motor covers BF20D

Yep, glad you got it done. Hadn't heard of Sea Foam Creep. I might try some. I like to save my KROIL for only the toughest chores.

I don't have a recommendation for anti rust spray but I'm...

Re: Frozen screws for motor covers BF20D

Impact driver always works for mr but if you aren't careful and booger up the screw head you will not get them out easily.

If you have to remove the heads, using a dremel with a carbide ball bit...

Type Carburetion into the search box in the link above if you want to buy the rebuild manual. It is well worth the money.

    Re: BF20D electric starter intermittent

I agree about the connections. Clean ALL battery cable end connections with a wire brush or even sandpaper. CLEAN AND SHINY.

This includes the end of the NEGATIVE cable that connects at the...

    Oh WOW!
    She's beautiful!
    Very unique too!
    I don't think I've ever seen another.
I will definitely keep my eyes open for one of those transmissions.
I'm always looking at equipment and parts so...

Man! I'm sorry I can't point you in the right direction. There's probably a complete trans sitting in a barn someplace but it might be a true miracle to find it. Individual parts were probably...

    Re: Do I have a BF20 or a BF9.9?

Well, I don't think the dolphin fins are going to help you a whole bunch in this case. They do a great job of helping a marginally powered boat get out of the hole but I'm just afraid that the 20...
