    Re: 6HP Powerhead fitment issue

You may have a power head from a different revision of the motor. In Tohatsu land, they are the MFS6 A2, B, and C. The A2 has a separate coil:

    16785

    The 6B could be either:
    16785 or 16786

    Re: Tohatsu 70hp md70B 3T,2006 HELP PLEASE

What is your serial number, and what is wrong with cylinders 2 and 3? Do you really need the head as well? Can you just re-bore and install new pistons and rings? Pistons are available in standard...
  3. Re: Question on cleaning the carb on my 6HP Tohatsu

Yes. Remove any rubber bits, and pull jets and emulsion tube nozzle, then submerge all for at least 4 hours. Afterwards, blow out all passages liberally with generic spray carb cleaner.

    Re: fogging md 9o tips

The motor will stall with that grommet removed, but you can fog and then restart.

    Re: fogging md 9o tips

The TLDI already has oil on the bearings, but you can spray fogging oil in the intake to add some more. You can spray it in the air chamber (remove the grommet), so you don't get oil on the TPS...
  6. Re: 2000 Nissan 30A4 - No juice to spark plugs or choke solenoid - starter fires fine.

Sounds like a bad fuse or stop switch.
  7. Re: Nissan NS15D2 midsection crack - is this an issue?

The exhaust pipe is aft of that. That's the driveshaft area. New housings are out of stock in the USA, and would cost about $400 depending on length.
  8. Re: 2000 90 hP WONT RUN ONCE IT HITS 2800 RPMS

What is your actual model? Is this a TLDI, or a 2-stroke premix?
  9. Re: Nissan NS15D2 midsection crack - is this an issue?

    I would leave it alone.

Re: Tohatsu 2011 9.8 running on 1 cylinder.

Clean the carb properly. Generic carb spray is not aggressive enough. Do not use any wire anywhere in the carb; micro scratches can cause weird mixtures. Completely disassemble the carb -- jets and...

Re: Tohatsu 2011 9.8 running on 1 cylinder.

What is your actual model? Is it an MFS9.8A3? What is the compression? It has a siamese coil, so if it is firing on one, it should be firing on both. What method did you use to clean the carb?
  12. Re: i need expert help with MFS40 motor coming out of low speed idle (not staying where its set at)

    The warranty is 5 years.
  13. Re: i need expert help with MFS40 motor coming out of low speed idle (not staying where its set at)

Possible, but I doubt it. If you run in dirty or silty or salt water, the water pump will wear faster, but in cold clear Great Lakes waters where I am, we do water pumps about every 3 years or so...
  14. Re: i need expert help with MFS40 motor coming out of low speed idle (not staying where its set at)

The EFI systems are complex; one can plug it into a computer and read out what the ECU has to say for clues, but it's not a shade tree mechanic kind of motor. I see no reason why you can't continue...
  15. Re: i need expert help with MFS40 motor coming out of low speed idle (not staying where its set at)

Could be the ECM, ISC, TPS, or poor wiring... could even be a bad key switch, but you need the service manual and software on a laptop, plus the cable kit to properly diagnose and repair the issue.
  16. Re: i need expert help with MFS40 motor coming out of low speed idle (not staying where its set at)

You are in warranty. Time to get to the dealer.

Re: Removing and adjusting float for m40c carb

First, check the float height by inverting the carb body. The float should rest parallel with the carb casting. If you need to bend the float tab, slide the float pin out (towards the front of the...

    Re: 2014 SailPro carburetor question

There are 3 different carbs for the MFS6 (A, B and C) versions. Year is irrelevant, but the 6A dates from about 2002, the B from about 2005, and the C from about 2011. The A version is the earliest,...
