You cant check it with water as H2O molecules are larger than gasoline. I have seen this on several Hondas and either the fuel bowl has a crack in/around where fuel comes into bowl or gasket is not...

Check you charging voltage and ground to fuel pump. If loose or overcharging it will lock up due to heat. Draining VST,setting and fresh VST fuel refill likely cools it soi t starts again.
Same unit just swap drive and shift shaft to looonger:cool:
